RotaEasy didn't start as a software project. It started as a Superintendent Pharmacist trying to manage a rota, keep a pharmacy GPhC-ready, and run a locum booking process — with three separate tools that didn't talk to each other.
I'm a Superintendent Pharmacist at ChemistCare Pharmacy in Cleethorpes, and I built RotaEasy because I couldn't find software that treated compliance and rota management as part of the same job — because they are.
Every tool I tried either handled rotas or handled compliance. None of them connected the two. A short-staffed shift is a compliance risk. A locum who hasn't read your SOPs is a compliance risk. Your rota software should know that.
RotaEasy is what I wanted to exist. It's built around how community pharmacies and dental practices actually work, using the regulatory frameworks I work under every day — GPhC, CPAF, Pharmacy First, CQC, HTM 01-05, IRR17. Not a generic HR tool adapted for healthcare. Built for it from the start.
Why RotaEasy exists
Independent pharmacies and dental practices in England operate under some of the most detailed regulatory frameworks in UK healthcare. GPhC inspections are unannounced. CQC inspections are unannounced. CPAF submissions have hard deadlines. HTM 01-05 requires documented evidence of every decontamination cycle. IRR17 requires a written radiation QA programme.
The tools available to manage all of this were either generic HR software not built for healthcare, expensive enterprise platforms designed for hospital trusts, or paper folders and spreadsheets. None of them connected the rota to the compliance work. None of them put an AI assistant in front of staff so they could query your own SOPs mid-shift without calling the superintendent.
RotaEasy is built specifically for independent community pharmacies and dental practices in England. The compliance folders map to real GPhC and CQC frameworks. The CPAF tracker covers the actual 2026/27 indicators. The Pharmacy First module covers the real NHS service pathways. Nothing is generic.
